How it works
Your course grade is the part you have already earned plus the final. If the final is worth 30%, the other 70% of the grade is locked in at your current average. The calculator solves for the final score that brings the total to your target: (target − current × share already earned) ÷ the final's share.
The current grade should be your average on everything except the final, as a percentage. If your syllabus lists points instead, divide the points you have by the points available so far.
The letter cutoffs (A is 93, A- is 90, and so on) are the typical ones. Instructors choose their own, so tap a letter to fill in a target and then type your syllabus number if it differs. A score above 100 is shown as out of reach because extra credit is not guaranteed.

- What do I need on my final to get an A?
- Enter your current grade, the final's weight and tap A (93). The calculator shows the exact percentage to score on the final, or says the grade is out of reach.
- What if my final is worth 100% of the grade?
- Then your current grade does not matter. You need the target score itself on the final, for example 93 for an A.
- What if my professor drops my lowest score?
- Recalculate your current grade without the dropped score and enter that as the current grade. This calculator treats the grade you enter as final.
- Can I pass if I fail the final?
- Try a target of 60 with your numbers. If the result says you are already there, even a 0 would not drop you below it. Check your syllabus too, since some courses require passing the final separately.
- Is my information saved?
- No. Everything is calculated in your browser and nothing is sent to or stored on our servers.
