Prereq.: MATH 201 and two proof-based courses in mathematics such as MATH 209, 220, 301, 302, 310, or 320. Not open to students who are taking or have received credit for MATH 618.

About this course

The course is an exploration of Euclid?s fifth postulate, often referred to as the parallel postulate. Development of the basics of Euclidean geometry with a focus on understanding the role of the fifth postulate. Development and explorationof hyperbolic geometry, a non-Euclidean geometry. Not open to students who are taking or have received credit for MATH 618.
