About this course
This course introduces students to the subject of criminologyby discussing the main theoretical perspectives and issues. Itfocuses on the problems of definition and measurement andthe main ways in which crime can be explained and controlled.In addition, the course considers how crime is represented, forexample, by the mass media, the unequal distribution of crimewithin society; the relationship between victims and offenders,and the social and political context of debates on crime andsocial control.
