About this course

This 3-credit course, which includes in-person backstage and crew work on department production, provides students with practical, hands-on experience in the technical and backstage operations of a theatrical production. All students are required to complete this in residence at Hunter College. Students will be assigned to a specific crew role, including wardrobe, hair and makeup, props, assistant stage management, lighting board operation, or sound board operation, and/or any other needs in theatre backstage. The course emphasizes safety, professionalism, and collaboration in a live theatre setting. The semester is structured to provide introductory training, followed by a concentrated period of work during the final production.
