Restricted to Adolescence Ed Sequence 2 Students, Special Education Childhood Students and Childhood Education Students Only. Corequisite: EDE 655 or EDE 656 EDE 657 or EDE 658

About this course

An examination of economic, social, and technological developments in United States cities and the resulting educational changes for children in present-day urban areas. The social identities of children are explored in terms of race, class, gender, ethnicity, and ability. Promising programs of urban education are examined as well. This course discusses hazards to children, including child abuse, substance abuse, and child safety, as well as violence prevention. Not open for students who have completed EDE 200, EDS 201, or equivalents.
