About this course
This course builds on foundational concepts in cell biology to introduce students to the study of cells, tissues and organs at a microscopic level, with an emphasis on structure?function relationships. Students will learn to identify all major cell and tissue types and understand their organization within organs and organ systems. The course begins with an introduction to histological and immunological methods used with light and electron microscopy, and an overview of microscopic techniques. It then explores the characteristic morphology of cell types, the organization of primary tissues, and their integration in organ structure. While the focus remains on normal histology, occasional references to pathological processes will offer broader medical context.
