About this course
What do mystery and horror stories say about us? This Spring we will explore the genres of mystery and horror in literature. We will read texts from various parts of the world including France, England, and the Arab world. We seek to answer the following question: Can we think of this genre not only as a form of entertainment but as a significant source from which we can think critically about humanity, our cultures, traditions, politics, and our concepts of race, class, gender, and sexuality?
