SOCY *1101 [5] OR SOCY 1200 OR SOCY 1201, WITH A GRADE OF C OR HIGHER, IS REQUIRED TO TAKE THIS COURSE. STUDENTS WHO PASSED SOCIOLOGY 2600 OR WOMEN'S AND GENDER STUDIES 3420 WITH GRADE C OR HIGHER CANNOT REGISTER.

About this course

3 hours; 3 creditsGender as a system of inequality that shapes social life and thedistribution of resources and privilege. Particular attention to gender asa social construct and the real consequences of gender in differentsocial institutions such as the workplace, family, and schools. Discussionof movements for gender equality. This course is the same asWomen's and Gender Studies 3420 [51.5].Prerequisite: SOCY *1101 [5] or SOCY 1200 or SOCY 1201 or permission of the chairperson.
