About this course
45 hours; 3 creditsIntensive practical instruction in conducting, rehearsal techniques, and materials applicable to vocal and instrumental performance ensembles in the public schools. Emphasis on conducting; score study; rehearsal planning, organization, and pacing; error detection and correction; student motivation; repertoire and concert programming; music performance curriculum; large and small choral and instrumental ensembles. Techniques for teaching heterogeneous choral and instrumental courses. Field observations and fieldwork in the public schools.Prerequisite: permission of the director
