About this course

45 hours; 3 creditsA seminar taught by an eminent artist, critic, curator, or historian that aims to acquaint students with a broad range of critical thinking and to develop students' skills in verbal and textual analysis. It is intended as a stimulus to art-making and helps to form the critical and conceptual foundation for students to bring back to their studio practice. The course is taken in the third semester and includes artists' writings and the development of the students own thesis proposals.Prerequisite: matriculation for the M.A. in teaching art or matriculation for the M.F.A. in art or permission of the deputy chairperson.
