About this course
This course introduces students to the scientific study of how people think about, influence, and relate to one another. The course emphasizes social psychological theory, methods, and research findings to highlight the role of social context in shaping behavior. The major areas examined are: the self; social cognition; emotions; attitudes and persuasion; conformity and compliance; aggression; prosocial behavior; stereotypes and prejudice; attraction and close relationships; and intragroup and intergroup processes.
