About this course

This course introduces students to the fundamental principles and practical applications of lighting and sound technology in live theatre. Students will gain a foundational understanding of theatrical electricity, conventional and intelligent lighting fixtures, control consoles, audio systems, microphones, and sound reinforcement. Students will assist on Light and Sound Crew Assignments for experiential learning and gain industry-level hands-on experience. The emphasis will be on developing practical skills through hands-on exercises and theoretical knowledge necessary for effective collaboration in theatrical production. Students will develop an understanding of safety in theatrical productions, tools, and spaces.
