About this course
The focus of the course is on the interface between psychologyand the legal system as apparent in conflicts heard in familycourt. Coverage will include the following topics: psychologicaland legal terms and concepts relevant to family court andpsychology; the history and development of the family andjuvenile court system; child abuse and neglect; domesticviolence; juvenile delinquency; juvenile transfer to adult court;juvenile interrogation; child custody and child placementrelevant to divorce, foster care, and parental rights termination.Biological, social and cultural factors that might influence familycourt decisions will be examined.
