About this course
This class provides students with an understanding of comics and their potential use within libraries. Students will conduct a major survey of the comic medium by reading, studying, and evaluating both classic and popular titles from North America, Europe, and East Asia. Alongside this analysis, students gain a familiarity with the history of comic books, global publishing trends, and the contemporary challenges librarians face when embracing this fascinating medium. Students reflect and apply these findings to various information institutions (public, school, and academic libraries and archives) with the final aim of developing and improving comic librarianship.
