About this course
> Afghanistan?from its occupation by the Soviet Union in the 1980s to its American invasion in 2001 and beyond-- presents a good example of contemporary conflicts, often described as ?complex political emergencies? (CPEs). These are the offshoots of diverse factors related to superpower conflicts in Afghanistan, and internal ethno-national, ethno-geographic, ethno- economic, ethno-religious and ethno-sectarian phenomena. Students will explore the subject through readings, documentaries, and digital and print media. And multiple online primary sources, including declassified documents.
