About this course

This class explores the ways in which public service sustains a democratic society. Public service constitutes our actions to address the problems facing our society through institutions, including government agencies, businesses, and nonprofit organizations. We also organize around and sometimes against these institutions to influence their functioning and outcomes and hold them accountable.
