About this course

This course investigates major themes in United States history from the Reconstruction era to the present. Students will engage with primary and secondary sources to explore how people from different backgrounds and cultures forged relationships, negotiated tensions, and built communities. Lessons and course materials will introduce, among other topics, the Second Industrial Revolution, the growth of American empire, the women's rights movement, the Great Depression, the United States' role in the World Wars, and the Civil Rights Movement.
