About this course
4 hours; 4 credits Introduction to the historical development and linguistic structure of African American English presented through the analysis of its underlying linguistic structure; social, cultural and educational considerations of its use; comparison of the major theories of African American English development, including its relationship to other dialects of American English and Caribbean creole languages. AFST 3232, ENGL 3526 and LING 3024 are the same course. Prerequisite for AFST 3232: English 1010 [1].
