A survey of Western music covering the major periods through the 20th century. Assigned readings and listening, plus one individualized research project. Final exam on: (1) historical information, and (2) style recognition.A grade of B- or higher in MUSIC 768 will be regarded as equivalent to a passing grade on the History Qualifying Examination.
