About this course

This survey course is independent of the English 371, which is not a prerequisite.� It covers the principal figures, styles, themes and philosophies of British Literature from the late-eighteenth century to the present.� It exposes students to major works of literature including poetry, plays, short stories, novels and essays.� It enables students to appreciate the thoughts and contributions of the era?s exemplary writers, which may include Keats, Wordsworth, Barrett Browning, Yeats, and Auden, as well as Austen, Dickens, Joyce, Woolf, Rushdie, and Zadie Smith.
