About this course
This course offers an in-depth exploration of research design and methodology within the discipline of psychology. The course will cover quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods approaches. The course introduces the major concepts, issues and techniques of social science research, including the epistemological and ontological principles behind the different methods employed. Students will learn to construct research questions, develop hypotheses, and design empirical studies. Emphasis is placed on issues of validity (including ecological validity), reliability, sampling, and ethical integrity. Through critical analyses of published studies and the development of a research proposal, students will strengthen their methodological reasoning and preparation for the capstone sequence.
