About this course
This course introduces students to cognitive processes that shape how we understand and interact with the world. Specifically, the course reviews how we receive information through our sensory systems and then process it in a way that gives rise to our mental experiences and behaviors. Among the cognitive processes to be studied are attention, memory, language, emotion, decision-making and problem solving. Students learn about these processes through exposure to current theories in cognition along with interdisciplinary research from other fields such as neuroscience, computer science, philosophy, and linguistics.
