About this course
Introduction to Spatial Design introduces students to the fundamentals of spatial design through short, cumulative exercises that integrate analysis, representation, and making from the outset. The course provides an introductory framework for understanding the spatial dimensions of architecture, landscape architecture, and urban design, approaching design as a mode of thinking and communication. Emphasis is placed on the acquisition of a shared spatial design language through drawing, diagramming, and modeling, supported by selected architectural, urban, and landscape case studies that provide historical and conceptual grounding while remaining focused on analytical clarity and spatial understanding.
