About this course
This course highlights fundamentals of sampling and data analysis, as well as various bivariate and multivariate methods of detecting statistical relationships between two or more variables. It is a follow-up course to SOC 302, building upon what has been learned in the prerequisite courses. The main objectives of this course are to provide fundamental hands-on knowledge that will allow students to apply basic statistical methods to analyze quantitative data sets, to work with a statistical software package, and to develop a research paper. Through practical instruction, this course teaches students statistical techniques and prepares them for research positions as well as work in data analysis.
