About this course
Social and community informatics is the study of the uses and effects of information, information technology and infrastructure by and in communities and societies. This course introduces students to the field through an engagement with the current literature and through applied methods. The course covers theoretical frameworks for social and community informatics and the purposes and aims of the field, community information behaviors and needs, the creation, transmission and preservation of information within social and community contexts, and how such practices relate to current sociopolitical issues.
