About this course
This course introduces the student to techniques of algebra, trigonometry, and other topics necessary for the study of calculus as well as quantitative courses in allied disciplines. Topics to be covered include advanced topics in algebra, analytic trigonometry, exponential and logarithmic functions, and theory of algebraic equations. Applications in science, finance, economics, and other related disciplines will be included. In addition to attending lecture three times per week, students will participate in a mandatory weekly recitation session. The purpose of the weekly recitation is to give students the opportunity for hands-on practice and work on support problems in algebra under the guidance of a trained recitation leader. Students should bring class notes and the textbook (ebook) to every recitation session. Students who pass Math 2002 will be given a placement into MTH 2600. Students can receive credit for only one of the following classes: MTH 2001, 2002, 2002T, 2003, 2009, 2009T. These courses may substitute for each other in the F-grade replacement policy. The policy on repeating courses covers any combination of MTH 2001, 2002T,2003, 2009, and 2009T. All combinations will be treated identically as three attempts. Not open to students with credit for MTH 2000, 2001, 2002T, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2009, 2009T, 2010, 2011, 2030, 2205, 2206, 2207, 2600, 2610, 2630, or any mathematics course at the 3000 level or above.
