About this course
Explores the evolution and influence of American popular music from 1960 to the present, focusing on genres such as rock, folk, disco, punk, hip-hop, and global pop. Analyzes key musical elements?rhythm, melody, harmony, production techniques?and understands their cultural, social, and historical impact. Students learn about iconic artists, the rise of music videos, the influence of technology, and the globalization of popular music. Emphasis is on critical listening, musical analysis, and understanding popular music as both an artistic expression and a cultural force.
