MAE 211
Engineering Mechanics: Statics · 3 credits · Spring 2027
Requirements
Pre-requisites of MAE 101 AND MAT 203 AND SCP 231 are required.
About this course
The course is designed to introduce students to the theory and applications ofstatics in mechanical engineering. Topics to be covered include equivalentsystems of forces, resultants, distributed forces, equilibrium of rigid bodies, centroids, centers of gravity, fluid statics, moments of inertia, and friction. Analysis of frames and machines, forces in beams, internal stresses, and stability will also be considered. Vector algebra will be used where appropriate.
