37� hours plus conference and independent work; 3 credits The project and the role of the project manager. Project life cycle and phases of a project. The project management plan, obtaining stakeholder buy-in, integrating business and IT expertise into the design. Managing an ongoing project, change control and scopecreep management. Time management scheduling using time management software -- Gantt charts, Critical Path Method (CPM) and Program Evaluation and Review Technique (PERT). Cost estimation, project budgeting and cost control. Quality control tools and techniques. Building, managing, and motivating a project team. Monitoring and managing risk. Bringing a project to closure. Prerequisite: 3115 [15] or a course in advanced programming techniques.
