Explores the music of East Asia as an essential aspect of broader culture and considers its use as a tool for entertainment, religion, military advancement and government repression. Investigates the development of regional musical styles, from ancient times to the present day. Explores the development of music and parallel historical events, such as social, economic, technological, and religious development.
